Lamentations 3:22-24 (NLT)
“The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is His faithfulness: his mercies begin fresh each morning. I say to myself ‘The Lord is my inheritance: therefore, I will hope in him.”
When I was little my Dad had a dog who was his favorite. Dad said that he knew the dog loved him because where Dad went the dog followed. If Dad was in the barn milking the cows, the dog was at his feet. If he was feeding the pigs the dog sat at the door. Mom said she always knew where Dad was by where the dog was. One time I remember Dad had pneumonia for 2 weeks and wasn’t allowed out of bed. All this time the dog laid forlornly on the doorstep never moving or eating; just as if he had lost his best friend. I remember how excited the dog got the first day Dad was outdoors.
The faithful love of God is always with us during the good times and the difficult times. His love is always available to us but the question is are we talking to Him and loving Him back. The Lord is never too busy. His mercies (or forgiveness) never cease.
I personally have gone through times of “feeling far away” from the Lord. At the time I had gone through a lot of stress and chronic health problems. Trying to fix them on my own. However I’ve learned (1) God’s love is always there (2) feelings are NOT fact and (3) God continues to extend His forgiveness/mercies and love to us new each day. All we have to do is reach out to God and give Him our joys and worries. I am so glad I reached out. God’s love is precious to me every day.
