Patient Waiting for Answers to Prayer

By Abiola (Abby) Adebajo

During the online service today, we sang a hymn just before the holy communion (Spirit of God descend upon my heart). There was a line (phrase) in that hymn that ministered to me and I have the prompting of the Holy Spirit to share with us.  It is “Teach me the patience of unanswered prayers.”

I don’t think there is anyone that really enjoys waiting for something. In our lives, we all have prayers that had been on our prayer list for years unanswered. I want to encourage someone today that delay is not denial, God makes all things beautiful in his time and HE always has the right timing.

Only God can see the big picture, part of His plan is working through our prayers. we pray but sometimes doubt if He hears us, but we need to remember He has promised to hear his children. He does not always give the response we expect or the answer to our timetable. His time is not our time.

When waiting on God to answer prayers, we must believe that HE will answer.

While waiting on God to answer prayers, take stock of your blessings. When we feel like God is coming too late, sometimes HE is coming in a big way and HE will come through for us. We need to constantly pray to HIM to teach us to be “patient while waiting”. It is difficult but HE will help us as we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13)

Let us reflect on these Bible passages: Psalms 27: 13-14, Psalms 37: 34, Proverbs 3: 5-6, Isaiah 30:18, Isaiah 40:31, Lamentations 3:25, Micah 7:7.

Keep trusting, HE never fails.

We have this Hope.
