Faith Versus Anxiety

By Kathleen Brewer

I like to watch the Price is Right. Especially the game called the Cliffhanger.  If you are not familiar with it, they have products each worth a dollar amount.  The contestant guesses what it costs and how many dollars they are off the little Yodelly man climbs another step toward going over a cliff.  The have four products to guess the prices and they can only be 25 dollars off or the little man crashes loudly down onto the rocks.  I always hate to see the little man fall and crash.

We are in a time of high anxiety.  Some days it seems like the anxiety of covid-19 or other health concerns, financial concerns, rent concerns, employment concerns, or just from being stuck in may overwhelm us.  I personally find it anxiety provoking just to get groceries.

Faith in Jesus is the answer. I Peter 5:7 says “Give all your worries and cares to God, for He care for you.”

Philippians 4:6-7 says “Don’t worry about anything; instead pray about everything.  Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. 7) Then you will experience God’s peace which exceeds anything we can understand.

Scriptures tells us to cast or literally throw our anxiety on God.  If we allow anxiety to build up in our life, we like the Yodelly man will crash.  Many days you may have to pray to God about the anxieties over and over as we are in a spiritual warfare where Satan does not want us to have a strong faith. Some days anxiety seems overwhelming but keep going back and giving the anxieties to God and thank Him for His faith and peace. As we persistently pray and give our worries to God our faith is strengthened!
