The last couple of days I have felt sad. First of all, wondering what life the next few months post Covid-19 will be like. Secondly, and mostly mourning for the people who have lost loved ones in Nova Scotia due to this mass shooting and the relatives and neighbors who went through this horrific trauma. Our world at times seems to be getting more violent, filled with more disasters. Instead of dwelling on the difficulties of our world and getting really down I turned to the scriptures for encouragement.
When we became Christians Jesus promised to be with us forever; to comfort us or help us through trials. Psalms 34:18 says “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.” He did not promise a trial free life but He promised to be with us through the trials and then when the time has come Jesus will return the second time to bring us home to be with Him. We do not know the day or the time but some day Jesus will take us to heaven to be with Him forever
1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 says “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. So encourage each other with these words.”
In Revelation 21:4 it says “He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” Be encouraged Jesus is our encouragement during this time and eternally.
