The Bible tells us that God opposes pride when it comes from conceit or self-righteousness. Not the kind of pride you have in others or the work you do, like Galatians 6:4, reads; “… you will get the satisfaction of a job well done,…” but the kind of pride that causes you to feel you do not need help from God or others.
God Himself designed His creation so people could give and receive help. Genesis 2:18 reminds us how the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.”
Today you may need help from someone and tomorrow you may be the one offering help.
We are told in Galatians 6:2, “Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of
Christ.” By sharing your needs, you are allowing someone to be a blessing to you and others to see God’s miraculous power in your life through prayer.
Needing help is not a sign of weakness. Like the song “Through it all” reads, “…If I never had a problem, how would I know that God could solve them?” Sometimes God works through others and sometimes He works Himself. Like He told Paul in 2 Corinthians 12:9; “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”
Do you think that it is possible that God puts us in a place of need so others can see His great hand at work in our lives? Or maybe He wants to use our time of need to teach someone the amazing joy of helping?
In the book of Ruth, we find the story of her and Naomi. In Ruth 1:20 it tells us Naomi saw her life as very bitter, believing the Lord God had sent tragedy on her causing her great sorrow from the loss of her husband and two sons. However, all through this book we see the amazing hand of God and how He worked through a man by the name of Boaz, to restore Naomi’s hope.
Dear Lord, because of your word made available to us, may we never lose hope but see our weaknesses as a chance for You to show Your strength. Thank You for always being in the lives of Your children and providing the best. Amen.
